HIGH-TECH INNOVATIONS DAILY FROM ASSEMBLY LINE, RIGHT?

If you’ve followed us for a year or two, you’ve seen our product launches on laser based photoacoustic technology. It might seem that this high tech company brings new indications from assembly line to the big audience on a regular basis. Well, it is not particularly what happens.

BEING INNOVATIVE IS ON OUR HERITAGE

From its origins, Gasera started as a spin-off from Turku University. Thus academic research and new innovations have been a fundamental part of the company from the beginning. Academic roots still shows in the amount of PhD’s working in the company. Internally, the other element about innovativeness is an on-going lively discussion at Slack #research daily. There’s always something going on with our research team, sharing testing results and trying to find new solutions for different measurement setups and sharing some new ideas of what should be done.

Outside company, in addition to new product launches, innovativeness shows as the increasing numbers of academic writings. Our colleagues participate in several academic research projects globally. CUSTOMERS DRIVE INNOVATION

Together with the dedicated and highly motivated research team, the ideas, needs and requirements from customers and partners drive our innovation. The initiation for starting to study some new opportunity actually comes quite often from customer and partner discussions. They know best the requirements and specific needs of their own business areas and in their application. This helps us to focus on creating something valuable for customers to begin with. There are several steps on the way for a commercial product, but that’s another story.

A good example of customer driven innovation is the current project where our teams are working with the digitalisation of gas measurement business.

INNOVATIONS THROUGH CO-OPERATION

In addition to working with academics and customers, we co-operate with EU, Business Finland, Academy of Finland and other public authorities. These co-operation projects have made it possible for us to understand global market challenges and opportunities in specific applications.

We are currently preparing multiple proposals involving topics such as :

  • miniaturized gas monitoring sensors
  • digitalization of gas monitoring and smart data-intensive integrated systems
  • border, transport and city safety
  • energy, industrial and environmental monitoring

In addition to thorough market studies, these co-operation projects have created a great opportunity to increase our networks, find new partners and to expand to new markets.

IMPLEMENTING OUR MISSION ON A DAILY BASIS

These all, academic research, innovation projects and customer feedback, give us the perfect opportunity to follow our mission to provide gas measurements beyond others consider possible. While getting  the baseline business on-going, all the new “stuff” keeps up the motivation and ambition level high for the whole team. There is an every morning brainstorming session at morning cup of coffee at Café One where new innovations are created daily. Ending up as innovations from assembly line, after all.
